I don't want to turn this into a "look at my watch" / "what watch are you wearing today" thread but your criteria above (a bit larger / easy to see in the dark) was what I was looking for too.

I ended up with an Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean. I didn't go for the 45.5mm because that was just too huge on my wrist so I opted for the 42mm instead.

I upgraded from a 40mm Tag and although the measured diameter difference is only 2mm there was a huge difference in the depth (the Omega was something like 5mm thicker at 15mm) so the perceived bulk of the watch was much greater. It took me a week to get used to it but now I would never go back.

True they aren't cheap but as Henry Royce (of Rolls Royce) once said "The quality remains long after the price is forgotten". If you wear the watch for 10 years, divide the purchase price by 10 and it suddenly doesn't look so bad on an annual basis. Within reason I wouldn't let the price get in the way of the watch you really like.
