Chris, the comments are definitely generalized. I don't doubt that there are many quality public schools in the USA, we made our decision because we felt that the combination of moral and academic standards were the best fit with our goals. Our local and state data support that decision academically, and we enjoy the focus on manners, respect, etc. We have a very good friend who is the principal of a large local high school, as well as several teachers in my wife's immediate family. They all lament the gradual erosion of power away from the teachers and administrators due to parents that would rather blame teachers than their kids, as well as the constant threat of litigation.

I'm a product of public schools (maybe not a vote in their favor), as is my wife. Hell, I didn't even grow up a Catholic. We made the best decision for our situation, as I'm sure you did for yours.
