what you have there is the basis of one of the MOST accurate rifles EVER BUILT!

the M40A-1.

ditch the crap stock, box up action, send to mcmillian here(az), and tell them you want an "ISSUE" M40-A1/A2. pick yer camo flavor for your stock(dez/woodland/urban/etc).

early versions used standard floorplate(mine),with beefed up steel trigger guard vs aluminum.

later versions use a detachable box magazine using accuracy intl 5rd and 10rd mags.

mine is presently getting the badger ordnance box mag update and the safety checked. anything amiss with safety it gets a TIMNEY TRIGGER(adjustable). badger ordnance (DOD NSN issue) mfgs box magwell/trigger guard.

all components will be ROGUARDED(look up robar), on your action just like mine was. and i swear by roguard in cold wet snowy hunts.

issue weapons came with backup iron sights and scope.

have them install 1913 picatinny rail on top. buy leupold 3.5x10 x 44mm illuminated TMR reticle or MIL-DOT reticle and leupold or a.r.m.s quick detachable scope rings.

install a second sling stud to front forearm for your harris bipod.

install quality(no crap) match sling, grab federal 168gr BTHP and proceed to TAKE "X" OUT ALL STINKING DAY LONG!

the MOST ACCURATE RIFLE I HAVE EVAR OWNED! i have WON BETS OUT SHOOTING CLOWNS THAT "THINK" THEY CAN SHOOT! and trust me there are a hell of a LOT OF CLOWNS OUT THERE that "think" they can shoot! the rifle will flat out scare you with accuracy. it will out shoot 99.9 % of shooters out there.

once you receive it, obviously buy a pelican hard case for it, a dewey coated cleaning rod, a cleaning rod bore guide(dont evar scratch crown of barrel), and treat it right. nevar evar EVAR remove bedded action from stock, unless major armorer work needed. allen bolts on trigger guard are set to an exact torque, samo as scope ring torx. mark them with wifeys red nail polish to see if they loosen after installing them with blue loctite. scope rings and trigger guard must be torqued to correct setting with a QUALITY INCH POUND TORQUE WRENCH!

this is a precision rifle that will astound YOU!

i wouldnt waste my time with a savage or winchester(japanese). wayyyyy more parts for rem 700 out there.

after this i would look at a steyr bolt in .308.

a bolt action will out shoot a semi auto any day of the week. less moving parts PERIOD!
