I have the same hardware. Mine was sold as a Varmint rifle with a basic plastic stock. Same barrel, same action. I bought it for about $500. IIRC I paid $550 or less. At that time Remington had a $40 rebate...which I filled out and never saw anything thereafter. Until recently, they sent me a letter asking if I had cashed the check. Short of it, they sent me new check, and I will deposit it this week.
Anyhow, I like the 700. The trigger needs tuning to my taste, but as you can see toward the last pages of the thread linked below, the trigger isn't so bad that a guy who's never shot a bolt action to 100 yds can get a decent grouping.
Since I bought the rifle, I've added a Choate tactical stock that free floats the barrel. I had the stock machined for AI drop mags. It's one hell of a rifle and I will probably never get rid of it. It's an all purpose rifle to me...
