Nothing different on that count, behavior is common to both sexes then I guess. I was never aware that it happened though(or rather, wasn't happening) until a thread was started on OT with it.

The shop manager leaves some about etiquitte that should be a "duh, who wouldn't know that?" Sadly, I guess its necessary. Otherwise, no, not common anywhere I've been.

I really don't get the guys with loose bowels who do this..not just the seat, its the floor. Most often seen in conference areas, it possible they are used to "Turkish" style toilets, and are indeed "sitting" on the seat in the sense their feet are in contact with the toilet seat and they are squatting above it.
Failure to raise lid, combined with bad aim results in a similar effect.
