Much more freedom back then...we spoke & acted freely w/o gagging on the self-consciousness & self-censor of today's Cultural Marxism (originating in the early '60s).
Seminars (EST, MindSpring, I-am-athon, The Forum, etc.) came into being back in the early '70s with a basic message of freedom from the binds of the PC movement (Cultural Marxism). We were shown that we didn't have to take responsibility for each others' internal experiences...that each individual was responsible for their own interiority...responsible for what we heard, how it went in, & what we did with it. If someone claimed to be "offended", it was suggested that they see a therapist. Those days, and that simple message, were the dying quiver of true individual freedom in America, IMO.

Don't get me started.
