Angst, frustration, feelings of helplessness. Our society deemed it improper to speak out, and to speak up. Our society tells us that we cannot speak our mind without being persecuted for unpopular speech. Our society tells us we cannot punch a guy who deserves it without going to jail.
So, rather than punching a guy, the emotional turmoil builds inside each of us and has led us to where we are today. Simply put, people bottle their emotions and their anger. Some people are better at keeping the bottle capped, but sometimes the bottle breaks and people die.
IMO, If there were no guns, there would be another tool to lash out with.
You could argue that the guns make killing easier. It would be much harder to have a mass murder scene armed with a ballbat.
