Sorry guys, my mistake. All of my tire suppliers, including Tire Rack, show a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 DRW 4x4 with a LT245/75-16E and no other choices given.
I'd still pick the 245s given the reasons outlined above. Same overall diameter, just wider, and more overall volume give it greater load carrying capacity.
I had the 245s on my 2000 (old body style) Crew Dually 454 4x4, and that was on the door as well.
