Probably similar to the Aurora 4.2L my uncle has.
With correct heads its easy to spot as the valve covers are fastened with a line of centrally placed bolts, where the stock 3.8 VCs are bolted around the edges.
Asfar as rarity and buying now...do a little research on 100% stock GNX or just really clean/low mile GN sales. GNXs are regularly in 100k++ range.
My uncles father (they own a dealership) has an '87 GN, 13,xxx miles...many offers over $40k and he won't let it go...
