Pool tournaments can be endurance events of sorts...1st matches begin at 8:00 A.M., final matches of the day into the wee hours of the morning. In large happenings, like the Derby City Classic, this goes on for a week or so. Yeah, drugs are used by some. Lots of energy drinks, etc. Funny thing tho...the top players have learned to pace themselves, take naps, etc. Those using chemical aids usually wind up losing because of the shakes.
My "honorary nephew" Matt doesn't do drugs, booze, or tobacco...no caffeine in any form, etc. He went through the masters singles division undefeated at the west coast BCA championships held last November in Lincoln City, Oregon. He & a lady from Washington state took first in scotch doubles as well. So, clean & sober works for Matt.
