I've shot too many things with hollow points to ever use them on anything ever again. Except, possibly, vermin and maybe coyotes. I've had several over the years merely "splat" on larger game, like deer, failing to penetrate enough to put them down.
Give me hard cast lead bullets with a big flat nose. Preferably big ones. .45 will do, .44 in a pinch. All big game I've shot with these have gone down without fail. I would trust my life to them before some designer hollow point of the month. Seen too many fail.
