I do have concerns about the cell phone provider, but it is a necessary evil. Letting Apple in is completely unnecessary.
And yes, I am being a stubborn old curmudgeon. I do not wish to use iMessage - for whatever reason. Maybe I don't like the letter M. I'm ticked off at Apple because I apparently have to sign up for their message system before I can use my own. Even if I subsequently turn iMessage off (how off is "off" once I've signed up?) what is the point of forcing me to sign up? It is all too big brotherish. Apple is beginning to act like Microsoft. Success seems to breed contempt for your customers.
This is all assuming there is no way of turning the damn banner off without kneeing before Apple and signing up for iMessage.
