When do you get the banner? When you try to respond to a text, or when you get into the TEXT app? Try these:
1. Check to see if any of the other Apple devices have iMessage turned on. Have them all turned off. Shouldn't make a difference, but wouldn't hurt.
2. Delete the old messages. Do any of the messages have a blue background?
3. Close the text app (double tap the home button to reveal the open tasks list. Tap & hold an app until a minus sign in a red circle appears. Tap the minus sign to close the message app.
4. Re-launch the message app.
Let me know what happens. If that doesn't work, I have a couple of other ideas...
