From a completely stock perspective, you're correct; however, the Android OS has more flexibility and can be tweaked to improve security (think apps). Apple cannot. Apple is only secure BECAUSE it's proprietary, they don't have any actual security enhancements. And once you jailbreak one, all security is completely out the window. As I mentioned earlier, there are android apps in development/limited use right now that utilize Type 1 encryption, the stuff that's "unbreakable." (I used quotes because technically nothing is unbreakable, but the encryption is so good, it would be too cost-prohibitive to even attempt cracking it).

A common misconception is that Apple products are "virus-proof." The only reason for this is that Apple enjoys such a small segment of the market share, it's not cost effective for hackers to develop code to target Apple devices; they get the biggest bang for their buck going after the big names. IF Apple continues to build their market share, you WILL see viruses start hitting your macbooks, trust me.

My background is in security, specifically encryption. I currently work for the agency that handles all communication security stuff for DoD...and there isn't a single APPLE device in the DoD's inventory--take that for what you will.
