I get that it's a business decision. If I were the CEO, I probably would make the same decision... weighing the cost of engineering, manufacturing and sales against the potential revenues. It probably just doesn't make sense.
But it is kind of sad in a way. In 2002, I purchased a brand new Dodge Ram 1500. The first year of the then new body style. It was loaded... big wheels, sport package, upgraded stereo, leather, you name it... but it had a 5-speed manual. I accidentally stumbled across it while truck shopping with a buddy of mine. ...and I was hooked. It served me well and was a blast to drive. In many respects, I wish I still had it but bigger and better things came along and I let it go. I've had other and manuals and a couple slushboxes since then, and I guess I am okay with an auto for everyday but look forward to getting my 911 on the road to get the joy of a "five" on the floor again.
