FJ80 style.
I had been a Land Cruiser owner for about 25 years and over 500,000 miles before I finally sold my exceedingly worn out and rusty '71 FJ40. I've gone four or five years without a Cruiser, but finally corrected that situation this last weekend. A good friend of mine was selling his '93 FJ80. I couldn't pass it up.
It has 180,000 miles on it, but only about 40,000 on a new, dealer installed engine (some mechanic dropped something down the intake...). It's loaded with every option available that year; most importantly, a pair of locking differentials and a locking transfer case. The full leather, air, cruise, sunroof, yada yada yada is nice and all, but the off-road capability is what really got me.
And, best of all, as you can see - Katie approves:
The old warhorse, after a hard life in the woods and on the trail. A buddy is doing a full, body off restoration on it even as we speak:
It's good to be Cruisin' again.
