I'm working on my early '66 US model ('65 build) polo red 912. I'm in the stage of reassembling so I have been through all these details like a round knob in stead of a T-shaped one for unlocking the engine lid, and so on. So if you need any help just PM me. My other 912 is a '68 and it was very interesting to discover the sometimes very subtile differences between these production years.
There are not so many of these European 912's left, so spend the energy and money (if available) to return it to its original specs.
