So needless to say, when I tried undoing the two pipes from the front oil cooler on the thermostat, one came undone and the other actually sheared off at the thermostat. I have a new thermostat so that is OK but I have the remains of the threded end in the nut of one of the rigid pipes and I cannot get it out.
I have cut up one of the old flexibles and have the fitting from the end flexible end. My plan is to cut off the rigid pipe low enough to match with the fitting from the flexible pipe and join them with flexible hose and a few proper hose clamps.

Has anyone else ever fixed a knackered pipe in a similar way?
