The electric powered antenna is placed on the right fender because of the simple reason that under the left one there is no room for the antenna motor, because the fuel filler neck resides there. The motorized antenna has to be positioned in the fender in contrary to the manual antenna which is slim enough to be positioned in the gap behind the A-pillar.
Originally the antenna was placed at the drivers site to enable the driver to adjust the length antenna without leaving the car. To prevent for vandalism the antenna can be pushed completely in the fender.
This type head lights is also available in a European version with replacable H4 bulbs.
As I said in one of my previous posts, you'll need the two screw version.
