I didn't think pressure would be high either, until I corresponded with a guy who had installed a pressure gauge on the scavange circuit. The results were counterintuitive, to say the least. I don't recall the numbers, but not down at the 20-40 psi level. And the pressures will be higher the colder the oil is. There is drag all the way along the plumbing, and the filter contributes to that as well. And the scavange pump is trying to move a lot of oil in a hurry. My racing organization does not allow hose clamped fittings on these oil lines, and that is a well founded rule.
