as the film is a tad slow, I have been reading trivia about the making of the movie and the writing of the book and screen play by Kubrick and Clark as they were done at the same time. They had the idea of the movie which was based on Clarks short story "the sentinel", and then went from there, really interesting stuff in the trivia, I love the internet.
