Winter Storm Warning in place for Central Virginia and the Valley. Rain tonight is expected to mix with and then change to snow. Snow, heavy at times, Wednesday across the region, with temperatures 30-35. Snow accumulations look to range from 4 to 18 inches across the region. Much of the area will see significant snow with this storm. The western and northern Piedmont of Central Virginia look to see snow amounts approaching or exceeding 8 inches. Those areas close to and West of the Blue Ridge into the Shenandoah Valley, snow amounts look to top out at a foot or more. During the morning and through the afternoon, we look to see some of the heaviest snowfall. The wind will pick up out of the north, as well Wednesday. Wind speeds of 15 -30+ expected, so with the snow, some power outages will be possible. The storm will move away from the region, with improving conditions by Thursday. Warming temperatures and drier conditions will take us through the late week and upcoming weekend. This weekend, marks the return to Daylight Saving Time - Spring ahead!
