I've been told the shape is the same.

Later models require the radio antenna laminated into the plastic safety layer between the two pieces of glass.

The only difference between the early and later 944's is the plastic spacer and rubber trim strip.

So if you stick one of those stubby antennas in the back center roof you can use the cheaper windsheild.
