Wow, I can't believe all the great advice I've already received from my fellow Pelicans, that's what I love about this forum. From everything I've heard so far, my wife and I are definitely going to make the trip. It looks like quite a few Pelicans have made the trip and I will call upon them for more detailed advice.

Right now it looks like I'll have the car shipped from NY to Nantes, France which is only an hour's drive from my sister in law's home in Brittany. From there we'll go northeast, making a stop at Lemans, continue east to Stuttgart, Porsche Museum, Autobahn etc. (I'd love to go to the Nurburgring but I think it may be too far north) from Stuttgart we'll head south through the Swiss and Italian Alps into Italy. I'd like to drive the Mille Miglia Route in Italy, continue south along the Amalfi Coast then hop on the ferry to Messina, Sicily. I'd love to be in Italy during the Mille Miglia race but it takes place in May and I plan to make my trip in September and October.

I have quite a few relatives in northern Italy and many throughout Sicily so I'll have plenty of places to stay. Once I get to Sicily I'll drive around the entire Island and drive the incredible Targa-Florio route. From there I'll either ship the car back from Sicily or drive back to the Port of Naples for the return trip to the US. I think I may extend the trip from 2 months to 3 months.

Thanks again for all the great advice and encouragement, by the way does anyone have any advice regarding speeding tickets in Europe. Not that I'll ever break the speed limit during my trip. I'd also like some help putting together a list of Porsche shops along my route and suggestions on spares and tools that I should bring along.

I'll keep everyone posted as I get more details regarding shipping costs, insurance costs etc. Lots of planning to do but I have plenty of time to do it.

Matt
