You will need this number to ship the car and for return shipping.
You will also need to have the Title for the car and give it to your shipper, it gets returned when you pick up your car.
When you ship home, you and your shipper will have to file a 10-2 form to Homeland Security 48 hours before your car is loaded on the ship.
I use Rinkens International out of Los Angeles for shipping to and return shipping. I ship to Felixstowe, UK. Shipping company in the UK is Kingstown Shipping. Last bill was 2200 pounds for return shipping. You will always pay Port fees when the car arrives, usually a bit over $1000, plus don't forget Homeland Security when you ship home, it can add $200-$1700 to the bill.
I always use a 20 foot container to ship. With Roll-on/roll-off shipping, a lot of bad things can happen to your car.
Get a International Drivers Licence at AAA, about $35.
Customs in the UK has only taken 1-2 days to clear both times I shipped my RSA to Europe.
Ferry to Ireland from Wales, round trip was a bit over $500.
I'm shipping my RSA back to Europe for our 3rd tour in 4 weeks, woo hoo. Then I'll fly over in May to pick her up in Felixstowe and I'm off.
Felixstowe is a large container port about 120 miles NE of London. Easy to catch the tram to the Train Station. Catch the Train to Felixstowe with a change in Ipswich. The Elizabeth Orwell hotel in Felixstowe is about 100 meters from the train station. Really nice Old world hotel. Down the street from the hotel there is a Halfords, pick up car supplies there.
There is also a Self Service Laundry within walking distance of the hotel. Laundry will become important on a extended tour. Next to the laundry there is a Auto Repair shop. They rented a power washer, floor jacks, impact & tourque wrench to me so I could pull the wheels and scub all the dirt off the undercarriage before she got shipped home. They liked my car.
I found a really neat 12vdc 6 inch buffer at Halfords that really made it easy to wax my RSA every month while on tour. I call those days therapy days.
