I took apart the suspension and steering on my NA.
I felt resistence when I turned the wheel, at odd intervals - kinda like it was binding. So I took everything apart. What I came up with was a new strut mount bearing (the passenger side was seized) a new steering intermediate shaft (the old one was semi-fried - one U-joint was bad) and a new tie rod.
The manual rack was dirty but okay; I cleaned the inside with brake cleaner (a whole can), then blew it out really good with compressed air. Then after letting it sit for another hour or so, I greased it up really good.
It feels nice and smooth now. Looks good too!
The new shaft and bearing arrived today; I'll install those tomorrow. The tie rod's s'posed to be here Thursday. I should have it back on the road by next weekend.
