Stocks are a good long term investment. Pick a good Corp with a good product mix and stablility and you will make a good return over time. Most Bank stock is also good for paying a reasonable dividend. Do a dividend reinvestment plan and you will increase your shares over time for retirement.
Gold is a sucker bet. Too much volatility for long term.
Land is good if you can find a good location at a discount price.
