If I had to put forth a best guess on who D.B. was, he was probably either Kenneth Christiansen or Richard Floyd McCoy, Jr. They seem to be the most likely suspects this many years latter.
The story would make a good movie.

According to the tv documentary they seem to think he got the idea from comic books that describe a man named Dan Cooper who jumped from planes. The FBI are looking for some one who might finds these comic books in an attic or basement.
