I sadly just retired my parent's toaster. It is a 1940-something chrome Sunbeam that they received as an anniversary gift. It's pretty much been in continuous service until last week. My wife got shocked by it and my daughter reports some arcing when she plugged it in. I opened it up and didn't see anything obvious.
