Just an FYI the legal guys have all of us at my dealer group SCARED TO DEATH about privacy issues. The Feds have invoked the HIPPA crap (yes we had 4 hours of training on HIPPA). We have been told to err on the side of caution. We have to copy driver's license for the insurance on test drives and they all have to go in the shredder when we are done, if not there is the threat of a $10,000 fine PER OCCURRENCE.

CarFAX is generally incomplete and incorrect. Great to use if there has been a wreck but not too reliable otherwise. Has a great deal to do with the information being reported. I worked in a PENSKE Store the relied heavily on the CarFax but we were prohibited form reporting ANYTHING to CarFax,,,can you say double standard?
