Definitely if you can own both, then do. The BMW is more a luxury car, the Porsche a sports car.
And that right there is something most people don't understand. If you simply look at horsepower figures, most people will find the 911 to be an ordinary car, but there is something special about a 911, at least the air cooled classics. You won't understand it until you drive it a while.
I have an E24 635 and had it before the 911. Now that i have driven the 911, there is simply no comparison, especially if you lean to the sports car side rather than the luxury side of cars. I am getting ready to sell the 635.
If you want crazy amounts of HP, you can go for a built 930, or better yet, buy a fairly stock one and customize it yourself.
