I definately see this topic beaten to the ground in many forums, and asking for advice on it was a last resort. Makes me feel like an idiot because the IMS is discussed frequently. I just have not seen this issue come up.

Even with the internal style, it should not take the amount of force you are describing. Usually, they just release with a pop and the bearing comes out.
