This is true, back in the early and mid 1970's I used to buy a lot of "Air Combat" magazines and the B1 was given much press then. The radar cross section and blended wing technology with buried engine nacelles were the big thing.
Sadly from what I recall the low level run crew escape pod did not make the
production version.
