I have said that if it were not for live TV, I would have dropped my pay-TV service (Uverse) a long time ago and just have gone with Internet service. We watch live TV for mostly news programs and some sporting events. We are in an area where attempting to pull in a signal OTA is iffy at best. But, we do happen to be considered part of the NYC metro market. Because of that, we have Aereo available.
I signed up for a free Aereo account to see what it is like. I have to say, I like it a lot. The picture is clear, and doesn't buffer. I watched a hockey game and some of The Masters yesterday on my TV and was quite impressed.
Although Aereo has won all of the legal challenges that have been raised so far, I am still trying to figure out if this will last. A one-year subscription is only $80 and that gives me unlimited viewing and "DVR" capabilities. That's $6.67 a month versus the $53 a month that it costs for Uverse TV.
Is this the future of live TV?
