During the summer, there's a guy that shows up frequently to the local Sunday cruise in/car show in his Testarossa (of course, with shields on the fender). Even though it (naturally) caters to the domestic set, there are plenty of vintage sports cars that show up periodically through the day. This guy shows up at 9, parks right out front in the area reserved for the featured domestic iron of the weekend (Chevy day, Mopar day, etc) and sits in his lawn chair till 4 or so. Struck up a conversation with him one day, and within 45 seconds lived up to the Ferrari cliché. “Yeah, I’m going to sell this car soon since the market’s strong and buy a timeshare in Miami, might even have some cash leftover for a 360 Modena blah blah blah”…or something to that effect, was kind of hard hearing him talk with the gold chains clanging on his pregnant-like gut.
As a comparison, Kip Wasenko (former Design Director of Cadillac) frequently shows up in his 246 Dino and is always a pleasure to talk to. Very nice and humble guy with a clear passion for the marque and cars in general.
Then again,
the Dino isn’t a Ferrari, right?
