Most of my painting now is "industrial" - therefore I use one of the cheap-o HF guns with a 1.4 tip. This is fine when you are throwing primer and cheap paint at gearboxes, steel work-stands, etc.
Late last fall, I painted a Cessna with the HF guns. Everything 911Freak said was present: dribbling, spitting, occasional "WTF" moments, etc. I knew better, but was being a cheap bastard.
I know T77911S said he has already ordered a good gun, so I put this out there as advice to others: Don't be a cheap bastard. Buy a good gun if you want good results.
edit:
I used a Sherwin Williams turbine HVLP gun
similar to this one about 11 years ago to paint a Fiat. I was really happy with the atomization and the spray quality. Have any of you other guys tried something like this?
