OK, here are photos of the fuel / oil level Gage (I had to replace the glass). I hope you can figure it out from the view, wire colors, etc. The bulbs I believe are in positions 1 & 4. My car is an '87, so this should be the same as your '88.
For sky1jord, I use a 2-iron using the rubber handle part to push on the Gage from the "frunk" (the only use my 2-iron ever gets); start with the fuel / oil level fist, then use the opening to push the others out from behind.
