Looks like its an 87.. thermo time sensor might not get you far. You'll need a flux capacitor
Worth checking out in person if you know 928's and in particular S4's.. there's a chance it actually has a turbo fitted, in which case it would make an awesome project car.
Even if not, its still likely worth $2k (auto) or $3.5k (manual) as a non-runner, and odds are those numbers would double if you get it running and give it a buff/polish to make the guards red shiny again.
Crank and no start is most likely one of (in the order I'd check them):
- cam timing (easy test with a 27mm deep socket to turn the crank so you can check the cam gear marks down the cam cover holes)
- LH or Fuel Pump relay (easy test - use relay from the horn, after making sure horn works)
- dead Fuel Pump (easy test - go listen to it with the relay jumpered. use jump leads with crocodile clips from a battery to revere polarity and try un-jamming if its not spinning)
- dead Crank Position Sender (easy test - if there's spark, this is ok)
- dead Temp II sender (easy test with multimeter)
- dead LH brain (less easy test - either try a spare, or send it away for test/rebuild)
Pretty much any other failure on an S4 will at least get the car to turn over once or twice, or idle badly with throttle input.
If you know S4's, there's a reasonable chance you could drive it away, although it might take an hour of testing bits and un-jamming the fuel pump (which is usually a temporary fix at best as they usually jam up again fairly quickly).
