Awesome day here. Spent the day up at the shop and assembled a customers 930 motor. Then my nieces, and nephews came out to the house for a day in the country.
They are all private school kids who live in a trendy neighborhood in the city. I first took them quad riding, ( two boys 12 , and 15, and two twin 10 year old girls). They never rode before . The 15 year old learned how to use a clutch, and shift , he was so proud. I let the 12 year old on the small auto quad.
Then we shot the 22 rifle, 22 revolver, and I let them crack a few rounds out of the 9mm. We grilled up some burgers and dogs, built a huge bonfire with all the downed branches in the yard, had smores. Then I gave the two boys a few bricks of fireworks ( various flowers, smoke bombs, and small crackers), and two lighters, and they went at if for an hour. You could tell they were having some serious fun.
Now they are all crashed in my camper out in the yard for the night. The 12 year old is the one who said the quote to me. Their parents are in San Fransisco for the weekend, and we offered to watch them for two days. Owen told me he thought it would be boring out in the country, but he had a blast. 6 hours , and not one of them was on their 3 ds , cell phones, or i pads.
The country,... it's good for the soul.
