I don't know if I can help much more, but I'll try. The instructions you posted are from the Service Manual. If you send me a PM with your email address, I'll send the relevant pages. They have some pictures that might help. I haven't done this type of work myself, but you may need to remove the door panel to what's needed.
BTW: Have you looked in through any of the Pelican DIY projects to see if one tells you how to make the adjustment?
