ABS problem

I changed brake pads and flushed brake system and clutch on my 2008 Cayman S in preparation for first DE of season this Friday. Previously I had the brake wear sensors connected and wire tied out of the way but not plugged into the brake pads to allow easier changing between track days. Yesterday I had the bright idea of removing the sensors completely and now the ABS failure light is on. I confirmed ABS has failed as I nearly flat-spotted my AD08s bedding in the brakes.

Is the problem the lack of sensor cables? Is there a reason the ABS would not fail if the sensor cable are connected but not plugged into the brakes?

I plugged in my Durametric software but there is no area to reset ABS.

I will also check the fuse.

Anything else? Helpful comments?
