I understand how you feel but I had the Ims guardian installed a year ago and I don't really think much more about it anymore. I have had my 2001 Boxster base 2 years and already I am plotting my next car - a 2009 or newer Cayman which does not have the ims in it.
I don't see getting anything for a couple of years but I understand your concern........
