I used to own an S4 with the 2.7 turbo motor. Had exactly zero problems with it, so not all of those were a maintenance nightmare. I sometimes think the people that have problems with Audis just have bad karma, probably from whining about their cars.

I have very little experience with the VW turbos, but I completely agree about the 3.2 VR6 - it pulls well throughout the rev-range, sounds fantastic & is a wonderful engine. I should add that at 131k miles I have had no problems whatsoever with the engine in my 2004 R32 & it is as strong as it has ever been.
