Seriously dont add a quart. I would recommend adding less than 1/4 quart or less depending on how sludged up you think your engine is. I have personally added a pour or two and had excellent tesults with lifter noise. ATF is a high detergent oil (auto trans do not like dirt) and will benefit most older engines. Add a few pours (1/2 to 1 cup) and drive a 100 miles or? Then change your oil.
