It's that time of year again, actually I should have started this 2 months ago...
Anyway - My kid's cub scout pack hosts the district Soap Box Derby every year and this year is no exception. It's our second year participating and it looks like we'll have about 5-6 cars in our den which is a crazy amount to organize.
Our Scouting association has a bunch of cars that have been donated and we will have to borrow some of those this year again for the race but for my son I was able to get a kit at a bargain at a yard sale that just happened to be the nearly $500 kit I was considering buying.
So now we have to decide on a concept which I figured would be a no-brainer if we simply look to the Mach 5...

Which he summarily hated causing me to question his parentage.
But he did suggest this which I can't really argue with I guess...
But his pinewood derby car was based on this:
Which I like better though the '52 500 is most likely the best choice...
Next year, I'm building a Mach 5 show car for in between races for myself. I don't care what anyone says.
