Slap it in, slightly over torque, back off and tighten to torque. That's what I do.

this is how i do it. squish it into the bearing with a plastic bag. i just use a quality bearing grease. you just doing the work is the real benefit. clean, non watered grease, trumps old nasty stuff. fun!
