I was thinking the same thing. The product is called Coban (pronounced co-ban) and is a 3M product. It looks a little like an elastic athletic wrap but it applies more like a flexible athletic tape. It has wrinkles all over and feels slightly rubberized so it is completely flexible and can wrap anything comfortably. If it gets dirty or tears you just take it off (it sticks on its own, there is no adhesive) and put on some new. It's the same stuff they use to wrap racehorse legs. One roll of the wrap should keep you going for a long time. It's thin enough that you shouldn't notice it's there.
