I've thought about the same thing.
1HP (746 watts) at 12 volts is 62 amps. I don't know how much one of these electric AC compressors draws, it's just a guess. You could definitely mount an auxiliary alternator where the compressor would be.
Of course it's got to be a lot more profitable to sell a bunch of hose upgrades and stuff
