Hi All - I have run across a neat little 78 SC Targa that I'd like to buy, but have not yet reached a price with the seller.
It's olive green with tan interior and Fuchs. 104,000 on the odometer. Overall it's in very good shape but could use a little elbow grease & TLC.
He's owned the car since 1984, during which time he's only put 30,000 miles on it.
Positives: Solid body, glass, and motor as inspected by a local Pcar specialty shop.
Negatives: Olive green and Targa are a negative to some, but not me. Mostly it needs a good compounding & waxing. The Targa top needs replacement. I would strongly consider adding an air box pop valve and Carrera tensioners.
The local shop has two "done" SCs listed around $15,000, but that same shop says I could quickly put $5000 into the car to "make it right."
Thus, I offered him what I felt was a very fair $10,000. He's mulling it over, but thinks it's low.
