FWIW I bought my 345C on eBay with Buy It Now.

Everything was legit and I got a very good deal, IMHO.

The auction was started in the wee hours of the morning. I was up early that morning checking email and I saw an email from one of the 356 registry guys who always checks listings and posts alerts. It got my attention and I went to the auction. No bids yet and the BIN price was only $4K over the starting bid - and if you know anything about 356 auctions - $4K is nothing at all to surpass once an auction starts. This for a complete no rust car with a bunch of recently rebuilt components plus engine ready to drive away located in south Florida (easy to transport - saves time and $). So I went for it.

Here's the kicker......found out later it had a sunroof! That was not mentioned in the auction description. Nor that the engine was a fresh rebuild. I hit the jackpot!
